I'm a firm believer that interior design goes hand in hand with the hospitality industry! It is important for businesses in the hotel sector to create an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere that attracts guests and strategically uses design to make them feel comfortable and welcomed. With this digital product, students will get the opportunity to design the interior of their very own hotel! Students will create a vision board outlining their ideas, determine the color scheme of the building, define the style they are trying to achieve, and select features such as flooring, wall & paint, fixtures, furniture, organization, and decor. Lastly, students will sketch their hotel room's floor plan and layout.
 
Once you download the product, you will have access to your own editable folder in Google Drive. The best way to use this product is to upload it into Google Classroom and make a copy for each student. This planning guide is created on Google Slides so that your students can easily drag and drop their images into the document. This assignment took my classes a total of (2) 50-minute periods to complete. Timers are added to each slide so that you can project the screen and keep students on task.
 
As an extension and application activity, I have my students create a 3D hotel room based on the planning guide and they print & paste their hotel features into the room. Use this youtube link to teach them how to make the 3D room!
