If you're getting ready to teach your future educators how to properly write learning objectives, you've landed on the right page! When I taught this lesson, I was in the thick of hybrid teaching in 2021 @ 35 weeks pregnant. I thought to myself, "How in the world am I going to teach about the complexity of learning objectives to students in person and online at the same time?" Thankfully a lightbulb went off the day before I was supposed to teach the lesson!

Every district, school and even educator prep program will do learning objectives differently, but I chose to use the 5-part objective since it's pretty universal. On day 1, you will teach your students about the following 5 parts of a learning objective:

1. WHO

2. WILL DO WHAT

3. HOW THEY WILL DO IT

4. HOW WELL THEY WILL DO IT

5. BY WHEN

Toward the end of the lesson, students will be given a practice piece in which there are 3 objectives they must color code according to the 5 parts.

On day 2, you will briefly review the 5 parts before transitioning into allowing students to practice writing their own objectives. There are 2 different options for this piece.

Option 1: Texas Standards are provided for students to practice with

Option 2: Students get to find a select their own standards to practice with

Here's what you can expect to find in the Google folder once you download:
